Experiential Creative Arts Therapy

Creatively explore life experiences and discover possibilities.

Experiential Creative Arts Processes can help you to inquire into and create a more integrated sense of self and well-being with increased self awareness, acceptance, meaning, purpose and possibility. As you explore, create and discover you engage physical, mental and emotional aspects of yourself. An inquiry process may  include a variety of experiential and creative modalities. Experiential Creative Arts inquiry processes use somatic, experiential and creative processes, including (but not limited to) visual arts: drawing, painting, collage, clay, dance/ movement, music, storytelling, drama, creative writing, poetry, media, and play.

Sessions also include a time of conversation where sense is made of the feelings and thoughts that have emerged during the arts experience.

With a creative arts practitioner/therapist as your companion you can explore questions creatively: How do I experience my life? How do I connect with others, the world and myself? What meanings do my lived experiences hold? What possibilities are there? How will I choose to be in my life? What do I need to feel better.

Experiential Creative Arts inquiry processes are accessible to individuals, groups, schools, workplaces, organisations, children, adolescents, adults.

No previous art experience or skill is needed.

“Learning to know more about being is really always the purpose, in both counselling and education. We are always reconstructing our perceptions, learning to understand our emotional responses, sharpening our intuitions and trusting the reliability of our being in experience. In doing this we can be more fully present in our experiences, so that we can imagine the possible choices and make them. This results in a strong feeling of being present to oneself as well as to others, a reliance on oneself, as well as a respect for, and trust in, the others with whom we share our lives.”(MIECAT)
